86Links, the parent organization of 86insider, concluded its first 2020 Investment & Trade Online (INTRO) China Forum with Urumqi Economic and Technological Development Zone (UETD) on Mar 6, 2020. UETD owns 80 per cent of the Xinjiang International Logistics Park in Urumqi, Xinjiang.
This inaugural INTRO China Forum marks the first steps towards enhancing digital capabilities of China’s industrial parks as well as accelerating the rise of contactless business and services. Held entirely online via video conference, INTRO China Forum – Urumqi, received attendees hailing from 3 countries and 5 cities.
OPPORTUNITIES FOR REMOTE OFFICE AND ONLINE ACTIVITIES AMIDST COVID-19
The unravelling COVID-19 coronavirus situation has undoubtedly caused significant distress to China’s economy and the operations of businesses across the country. While many companies may feel the impact of COVID-19, the outbreak has also opened up new opportunities for remote office and online activities. The UETD investment promotion committee was at the forefront of embracing this potential by organizing an online investment forum complete with an electronic signing ceremony of LOIs with its attendees. This solidifies the impending shift from traditional offline investment promotion activities to an entirely online sphere powered by internet technology.
SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION BETWEEN 86LINKS AND UETD
The 2-hour long INTRO China Forum – Urumqi, reached its climax when UETD’s district mayor, Zhang Junxiang, surprised everyone by having all his district committee members remove their masks to rekindle the greatly missed human touch with all attendees in distant times like these.
UETD also credited the great success of this online forum to their co-organizer 86Links, who provided UETD with a full suite of services, ranging from technological know-how, to attracting and managing potential investors. 86Links remained steadfast in their support for UETD by upholding utmost professionalism and dedication in the delivery of their INTRO China Forum.
REMOTE ONLINE BUSINESS TO STAY
More than 30 domestic and international companies attended INTRO China Forum – Urumqi, of which, 7 proceeded to sign an investment LOI with UETD. On top of these invited companies, the forum saw attendance from more than 11,000 online viewers, including 1,500 company representatives through 86Links’ live-streaming platforms.
Shanghai Industrial Cooperation Promotion Center, who was also present at the forum, expressed enthusiasm in working towards a collaborative and complementary industry future between Shanghai and Xinjiang. The INTRO China Forum – Urumqi is a testament to the ever-innovative and resilient Urumqi government who showed us that remote online business activities will be a mainstay in 2020.
